Checking in on New Year Resolutions

Well , it’s about six months since your  New Year resolution Chandler, Scottsdale, Mesa and Phoenix Valley business owners. How have those resolutions worked for you?  As so many business owners look for ways to skinny down the budget, good advice as we are still in this recession is…don’t skimp on your security budget!

This locksmith knows that crime is alive and well in Scottsdale, Chandler , Mesa , Tempe  and elsewhere in the Phoenix valley.

True Story:  Early last year one of our locksmith Scottsdale business clients was setting up a new location.  And he called us out there to re-key the property .  As with all of ASAP Lock & Security Scottsdale service calls, we surveyed the site.

We found that our Scottsdale locksmith customer was very vulnerable to common criminal attack at the rear of his property.  We also suggested a new safe since his was a Costco special.  Please folks, don’t buy cheapo safes from Costco and Wal-mart.  Don’t get me wrong.  I shop at both places for food and dry goods.  However, those stores are a very poor choice to shop for asset protection.

Anyway, back to the story of our Scottsdale client. I strongly suggested for him to let us better secure his back door and sell him a new safe.  He thanked us, but…there were so many other updates and expenses he wanted to attend to. I’ll save some money now and thanks, but he passed on my security advice.

A little less than three months later…he called ASAP Lock & Security and said “Laura, I should have listened to your advice. We were broken into last night (at the door you suggested we improve) and they pried our safe open and took cash.  Alarms went off, but by the time the police got there…we were robbed.  Please secure the premises as you suggested and we’d like to buy a new safe today.”

Now readers, as a professional locksmith in Scottsdale, and more importantly, as an ethical and moral person; I am not happy when bad things happen to good people.   The suggestions I make for lock and security improvements are for your protection and to avoid situations like this one.   I like to retain clients because I’ve helped them stay protected.  Locksmith referrals are very strong for ASAP Lock & security and I know it’s cliché, but referrals ARE our biggest compliment.

Think about it. People are stressed.  Have you noticed?  Remember that disgruntled employee you let go last month?  Does he still have your key?  At ASAP Lock & Security, know that our prices are reasonable and we will help you set up a better way of tracking security issues so that they become non-issues.

So back to the New Year  advice…Please, in 2010, if your New Year’s resolution is to tighten your belt on spending,  please do not  skinny down on the security budget, just skip the donuts in the break room.

Best Wishes for a prosperous New Year to all of our Phoenix Valley Business Owners.

Breaking the law in Mesa, AZ

This Mesa locksmith read about a motorcycle officer who attempted to pull over a vehicle in Mesa after the driver made an illegal right turn at a red light at the Mesa Drive exit off the U.S. 60 freeway.  (I know your thinking Whoops! they are gonna get a ticket)  but what happened INSTEAD was the driver instead fled the police and drove into neighborhood off Mesa Drive and Holmes Avenue.  Then all five of the occupants ran from the vehicle, a Mesa Police spokesperson told the news.

Police later located the driver and the four passengers, who were suspected of being in the country illegally.

Guess the moral of this one is…break the law…you get stopped by police.  Break the law and your illegally here in the US?  You get stopped by police and then get deported.  Hmm.  I’m thinking civil rights isn’t an issue in this case. Huh? What do you think?

Chandler Man Killed on US 60 in Mesa

There is a point in the road off every highway here in Arizona called the “gore”  It is in a shape of a “v” and separates the right lane of highway and the exit or entry ramp.  It is illegal to cross this “v”  or gore section.  Well, as a mobile Locksmith service in Mesa, I’m on the road A LOT.  And I see A LOT Arizona drivers abusing this dangerous portion of roadway all the time.  Just let it be known that a traffic fine in this area is very expensive.  This week, in Mesa, a Chandler man was killed in a gore area.  He stopped in the on ramp gore to change a flat tire. There was a problem in the on ramp…a rear-end collision, which caused a chain reaction that ended up hitting the Chandler man’s truck pushing him into US 60 West traffic where he was hit by a van and killed.   Kevin Maples, was 31 years old.  Condolences to his family.

Please be careful on our Arizona highways.  Respect all safety rules.

Arizona Governor Approves Carrying Concealed Weapons without Permit

In Phoenix, Governor Jan Brewer really makes a statement about upholding the constitutional 2nd amendment regarding Americans having the right to bear arms. “I believe this legislation not only protects the Second Amendment rights of Arizona citizens, but restores those rights as well.”

This security professional supports any bill that promotes the constitutional right (and there are a lot of locksmiths and business owners  that I talk with who feel the same way) to bear arms.  Allowing people to protect themselves from criminals is A GOOD THING.

Critics worry it will lead to more shootings as people with less training have fewer restrictions on carrying weapons. I guess we’ll see.

Let’s face it, fellow Arizonans. You might not NEED to take a permit class any longer, but if you have little to zero traing operating a firearm…you are doing yourself a BIG disservice to NOT get an education from a professional.

Know your gun.  Know the law….or it will be YOU behind bars.  This locksmith says..be careful out there Phoenix.  Be Smart. Be Safe.

Best,

Homeless in the Valley

More than 2700 people are living on the streets in the Phoenix Valley. This locksmith noticed Tempe Vice Mayor, Shauna Ellis, along with other Maricopa government, had reduced their homeless numbers from last year. Very often, in the news I notice that criminals involved in commercial thefts such as shoplifting and armed robbery or assault are indeed vagrants.  This is a sad state, but more than that..you should make sure you are properly securing your homes and businesses.  Call a trusted locksmith service for Tempe,  Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, scottsdale or Phoenix.
