Phoenix Valley Locksmiths & The Divorce Rate

It was reported back in October 2008  for Phoenix, AZ:  FACTS –  Maricopa County’s divorce rate is 64 – 70%.  

This is quite a statistic.  Although, it’s reported currently that because of this depressed economy-and financial hardship causes problems with marriages, that the divorce rate is dropping mainly because couples report they cannot afford to get divorced.

The locksmiths at ASAP Lock & Security are often called in just before the official, or after actual divorce happens.   As the female owner and locksmith in the company, I have many times been thanked for just being a female locksmith because wives (soon to be ex-wives) are happy to do business with a woman they can trust.   They have the house now, and they need the locks changed!

Let me tell you, I am happy to help.  And  helping to secure some of these tender clients is much akin to being a great locksmith as it is to being a great bartender.  By the way, something I actually did through college.  

On these divorce calls, you hear it all.  Husbands (soon to be ex-husbands) coming in to snoop, steal (yes, I said steal) and damage property because they are angry.  Physical and emotional abuse and restraining orders, the gamut runs on these behaviors. Scottsdale or Queen Creek – it doesn’t matter about what community you live.

On the other side, to be fair to the guys out there reading this,  I’ve seen the same behavior come from women.  Ex-wives damaging property, cars, golf clubs, man caves and the like…because they are angry.  So, the guys have the house now and they need the locks changed!  This scenario though, is usually the exception to the calls we receive, but they happen too.

All I have to ask is where is the love?  Dr. Phil? Hello?  Well, I guess even when it’s over…it’s not.

So, try and feel better about things. Change your locks so it doesn’t make you more upset if your ex, or soon to be “official ex” enters your space without your knowledge because he or she is TICKED OFF.  Protect yourself.
