Scottsdale Police Cyber Bully Guidelines

Direct from the trusted Scottsdale police. In the unfortunate case that your child becomes victim to cyber bully attacks, follow these guidelines:

  • Do not respond to the bully. Responding to the bully will escalate the problem.
  • Use the block feature found in email, chat rooms or instant messaging sites. Most sites allow users to block specific screen names or email addresses. For SNS (social networking sites), you may need to delete the current account and open a new account that limits access to trusted friends.
  • Do not erase or delete evidence such as emails or text messages.
  • Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the SNS (social networking site) or cell phone company and file a complaint. Many Internet sites, Internet providers and other forms of digital media have a code of conduct policy or other guidelines prohibiting abusive/profane language or conduct.
  • Contact the child’s /teen’s school if it is school related. Find out if the school has a policy on cyberbullying and what can be done.
  • Contact local law enforcement if you or the child/teen has been threatened or a crime has been committed.

This Scottsdale locksmith thought it a good idea to post these guidelines from Scottsdale  police to help parents protect their kids. Too bad, as I don’t believe as yet, cyber bullying –cyber bullying–the act itself– isn’t on the books as a stand alone crime.

Mesa Business Owner is Victim of Embezzlement

One of my clients, who owns several restaurants in the Phoenix valley,  phoned ASAP Lock & Security the other evening.  He  needed a rekey at his newer Mesa Arizona location right away.  He was in a really tense situation too.  He informed us that his manager had just absconded with $50k stolen from the safe.  We rekeyed his place stat.  Then, when I inspected the office and saw his safe, I couldn’t believe my eyes. This tiny little rickety old thing  that it is, I could literally pick up off the floor with one hand.  Now, a forced entry wasn’t the reason for this crime.  It was a crime of fraud really as the manager had full access to the safe, but my gosh if ANYONE  broke into this place they could just lift that safe out of the office, throw it in the back of a truck, and be gone before the alarm company would have a chance to phone anyone.  Wow. Now for restaurant owners, you have to spend some money for a safe. Costco or Walmart specials will do you zero good.  You have to have options for cash drops and dependant on your needs, it doesn’t matter how many options you’d like…you are looking at an investment of at least $1500.  So you have to think…Is it worth it?  This locksmith in Mesa, AZ says…HECK YES.   I informed my client  of his options for a new safe based on his needs.  To this time, my client has still not purchased a new safe and, quite frankly, I just don’t understand it.  I’ve seen this so many times in this brutal economy, the penny wise pound foolish thinking.  My clients always come back to me and say…should have listened.  Moral of this short is please, business clients, if you have an outdated cheapo safe that is NOT professionally bolted to the floor, call the trusted Phoenix locksmith at ASAP Lock & Security and we will consult with you and deliver and install a proper safe for your needs. I guarantee it will be worth every penny.

Scottsdale Crime of Pools

The Scottsdale police informed the public a few days ago about the recent rash of pool equipment theft from residential properties. As the foreclosure wave is still with us, so does is the aftermath of the break. There have been few arrests, but Scottsdale police believe that pool equipment is disappearing from properties because of unpaid bills and the fact that the secondary market for used parts is fairly healthy. It is suspect that the pool guys who get stiffed from unpaid bills from their previous customers calling in bankruptcy might even take the pool equipment to help pay for revenue lost? Hmmm? Whatever the cause for theft is really with this pool parts ring rash, the fact is, that you should consult with your locksmith to make sure there is a good way to lock your side gates. This crime wave is happening via unlocked side gates and low walls. This we know. Pool pumps and such are expensive to replace, so lock em up and have your locksmith show you a good way to control access for your yard.
