Crime in Queen Creek

Very often locksmiths are called to a crime scene.  Sometimes that crime scene is overt-meaning the police are present and investigating, alarms are going off, employees milling about and it’s quite a ruckus. Sometimes it is a crime scene far less obvious.

I’ll tell you about a quiet residential crime scene that I was recently called to in Queen Creek, AZ.  Everyone who lives in a house should understand this crime scene.

A woman phoned our office and stated that she and her husband had just bought a house in Queen Creek and could you we come and re-key it?  Of course!

The residential community the couple had just moved into was a brand new build.  The development was still underway.  Sub-contractors everywhere, hammers banging and cement trucks still pouring driveways.  So, the night before the call to our office was their first night in their new home.  Not only, my client had just had a baby!

So the bedrooms were upstairs the garage, kitchen, den and family rooms were downstairs.  As my client went upstairs to bed, she locked the front door deadbolt.  You had to walk right past the front door to go upstairs.  Now their dog sleeps in the kitchen at night.  That night the dog woke them up barking fiercely at the front door.

They all went downstairs and didn’t see anything.  Then they looked at the front door.  It was unlocked.  Being a new Mom and a new place at night, my client was CERTAIN she locked the deadbolt before she went to bed.
Fact of the story?  Someone had a key to their home, most likely, a builder’s key (click here to see a quick definition about builder’s keys).

What was happening in the area?  Appliances were being stolen.   A truck pulls up and empties the house.  These thieves had their timing off, and didn’t expect occupancy so they closed the door and took off.

This crime can happen anywhere in any residential community. Whether it’s a foreclosed home, a short-sale, new build or a rental. This time, it happened to happen in Queen Creek.  This is the true story experience of an ASAP Lock & Security locksmith. Please visit our Queen Creek Locksmith page on our website for more local information.

Please, re-key your home when you move in, or if your renting, have your landlord re-key the premises BEFORE YOU MOVE IN!
